A Symposium for Women Entering Ecology and Evolution Today (SWEEET) 2008 will be held on May 11, 2008 at Green College (UBC), prior to the CSEE meeting.
The symposium is intended to address issues that influence the advancement of women from postgraduate degrees into academic, government, and industry positions in Ecology and Evolution.
For more information see the SWEEET website.

We are pleased to announce that Wayne Maddison and David Maddison have offered to run a workshop on Mesquite in conjunction with the CSEE meeting.
Mesquite is a toolkit for phylogenetic and other evolutionary analyses (character evolution, diversification, morphometrics, coalescent simulations, and a lot more).
Please contact Wayne Maddison to let him know of your interest (dates and times to be coordinated).

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Daniel Promislow (University of Georgia) has agreed to give a 45 minute talk entitled "Searching for and landing a job: How to get prepared for academia". A 30 minute discussion period will follow the presentation with a panel of three professors, including Daniel Promislow, Elizabeth Elle (Simon Fraser University), and Marc-André Lachance (University of Western Ontario), to discuss and answer any questions you may have on the subject.
This workshop will be on May 13th, 2008 at lunch time (12 - 1:30 PM) in Biological Sciences 2000. A bag lunch will be available at IRC at noon for pick up by students and post-docs interested in the workshop. For more information, please see the CSEE student web-page.
