The Canadian Society of Ecology and Evolution is pleased to announce the following awards received by its members:

Dr. Kathy Martin received the 2008 Doris Huestis Speirs Award at the joint annual meetings of the Society of Canadian Ornithologists and the American Ornithologists Union in Portland, Oregon. The award is given to an individual who has made “outstanding lifetime contributions in Canadian ornithology.” Her work includes influential studies on the ecology, life history, behaviour and conservation of birds in arctic and alpine, and forest habitats.
